POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Membership Director, the associate will be responsible for providing a safe, enriching and healthy environment. You will also be assisting and implementing new programs within the child-watch areas to provide growth, learning and fun activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Assist with day to day operation of Child-Watch
* Implement a program that is developmentally age appropriate, meeting the needs of the children in the group.
* Maintain ratio at all times
* Provide careful, attentive supervision and is alert at all times
* Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and preparation
* Promotes a team concept through positive approach with other staff members
* Communicates well with program members in a positive manner at all times.
* Demonstrates appropriate decision making abilities
* Upholds and exemplifies the YMCA's core values, Building character, Healthy Spirit, Mind, and Body.
* Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must possess oral, auditory and written communications skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults
* Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
* Minimum 16 years of age

* Must be able to diapering and toileting child as needed.
* Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

* Must be able to lift and carry/or assist children us to 50 pounds in weight
* Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
* Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
* Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
* Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
* Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
