Position : EHS Coordinator

Location : Warwick, RI

Duration : 12 Months Contract

Total Hours/week : 40.00

Job Description Summary

  • In this role, the individual will be responsible for the development, communication, implementation, training, and evaluation of Environmental Health and Safety Programs at the Warwick, RI facility.

Responsibilties:

  • Responsible for collecting, preparing, and transferring many types of chemicals and other hazardous materials. RCRA / DOT and IATA shipping certifications required
  • Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain Safety Data Sheet database
  • Responsible for conducting weekly safety inspections such as Hazardous Waste areas
  • Evaluation and implementation of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of equipment and materials used in the facility, including pollution control devices
  • Aid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested
  • Develop and implement procedures/SOPs to reduce safety/environmental risks and to address emergency situations
  • Develop and provide EHS related training programs on various EHS topics including Lab Safety, Respirator Program, PPE. Hearing Conservation, First Aid/CPR, LOTO, Chemical Hygiene, and Hazardous Communication
  • Maintain Sustainability Report and records
  • Collaborate with management to further the objectives of health and safety programs
  • Facilitate and manage employee-based Safety Committee
  • Coordinate annual EHS training matrix
  • Coordinate and develop training & drills for Emergency Evacuation requirements
  • Serve an active role in the incident investigation process and root cause analysis
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.
  • Familiar with EHS programs and regulatory requirements
  • Associate Degree
  • Experience writing and updating SOP's and other EHS policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, including Injury record keeping
  • Computer savvy – MS Teams, Excel, and Word
  • Effective interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills
  • Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills
  • RCRA / DOT and IATA shipping certifications required to be obtained upon hiring.
