DEPARTMENT: Taunton Area School to Career (TASC)

POSITION: Workforce and Community Relations Partner

REPORTS TO: TASC Program Director

PARTNERS WITH: TAUNTON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

SUPERVISES: N/A

STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

The Community Business Relations Coordinator will focus on building and nurturing strategic partnerships with the local Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, and educational institutions to foster mutually beneficial relationships and connect student career paths with workplace needs. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting local businesses, identifying skill gaps in the workforce, and creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience that prepares them for successful careers. Through these connections, businesses can enhance recruitment efforts, offer internships, and provide mentorship opportunities, creating a mutually beneficial ecosystem for both the local workforce and the community.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, Business Administration, Education, Public Relations, Communications or a related field.
  2. Strong understanding of local business environments and workforce development.
  3. Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Experience in organizing events or programs that connect businesses with students or the community.
  5. Ability to analyze business needs and work with educational institutions to tailor solutions.
  6. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, internet, databases, and social media.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Chamber of Commerce members, businesses, and align workforce development with student career opportunities.
  • Identify the workforce needs of local businesses to create career-focused initiatives such as internships, mentorships, and skill-building programs.
  • Organize networking events, job fairs, and workshops that facilitate connections between local businesses and students.
  • Work closely with business leaders to understand their hiring requirements and provide insights into the educational paths and skills needed to meet those demands.
  • Advocate for workforce development initiatives that connect students' educational experiences with practical, real-work job opportunities.
  • Provide resources and support to businesses seeking to offer internships, apprenticeships, or career pathways for students.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of partnership initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure outcomes meet business and educational needs.
  • Work closely with TASC staff to identify students from area high schools to match with local employers' workplace needs.
  • Visit local high schools to engage with students, offering guidance and support in connecting them to various community opportunities and career exploration programs.
