Overview
OVERVIEW: Serve as the dedicated study abroad advisor for the School of Business.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Advise Business students for study abroad, program selection (semester, summer, faculty-led) and application process especially with, but not limited to, course selection and experiential learning requirement. Engage with appropriate stakeholders to prepare students for study abroad. Liaise with third party programs to facilitate student enrollment. Troubleshoot issues which may include communication with students, parents, program staff, and campus stakeholders. Refer unresolved problems to CGE/Business leadership. (35%)
  2. Maintain regular communication with assigned programs to ensure that course availability and experiential learning opportunities are up to date, reflected accurately on web/print materials, and shared with Business faculty/staff so that students stay on track with their degree requirements. Ensure that courses are articulated in a timely manner. Obtain and report students' onsite course information. Review/approve students' applications and manage program "exception process" with Business and CGE leadership. Monitor experiential learning requirement with Business leadership. (25%)
  3. Develop/lead study abroad info sessions/workshops (both pre- and post-application, "Study Abroad 101 and 201") in conjunction with Business staff, Career Education, and college Admission for prospective students. Support Business faculty-led programs with recruitment, pre-departure, CANVAS site development/maintenance. Assist with the annual Business Involvement Fair, summer orientations, and the Friar Leadership & Immersion Program. Collaborate with Business faculty/staff and other stakeholders to create study abroad recruitment materials. (15%)
  4. Work closely with PCSB advising staff to develop study abroad communication plans to ensure advisors have accurate information for study abroad. Attend business faculty/staff meetings when appropriate and serve on the Business International Committee. Maintain office hours in the School of Business to support student/staff. Collect/share Business study abroad student info/data for Business leadership such as, but not limited to, enrollment reports, student feedback, and program feedback/data related to experiential learning. Meet regularly with the Sr. Associate Dean of Business. (15%)
  5. Ensure that assigned program websites and related materials are accurate and up to date. Keep CGE staff updated on program enrollments and developments. Assist with international student orientation and the annual Study Abroad Fair. Attend CGE staff meetings and ad hoc meetings with campus stakeholders. Represent CGE on the International Programs Advisory Committee. Perform other CGE related duties as assigned. (15%)
MARGINAL DUTIES:
  1. Perform all other duties as may be required.


Education and Experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. MBA or master's in higher education (or similar) preferred.
  • Three to five years' experience in higher education or an international education organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Student-centered approach to advising, program/course selection, cultural adjustment, problem-solving, and the ability to deal with parental involvement.
  • Ability to work closely with multiple constituents and identify new opportunities for collaboration with relevant stakeholders and form relationships across campus.
  • Effective written/verbal communication skills that facilitate student services/support, teamwork, and problem solving. Presentation development and delivery skills.
  • Ability to support students' cultural adjustment and problem-solving in the context of another culture.
  • Experience working with third-party program affiliates and how these organizations serve students and colleges/universities.
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Intermediate experience with Banner or a similar system.
  • Intermediate experience with study abroad application and data management.
