Field Service Technician I

Overview


The Field Service Technicians (FST) support the installation and service of our clients camera and communication equipment on customer fleets. They work with Field Service teams to meet installation and service schedules and maintain high quality standards. FST will perform installations and service according to defined operating procedures, and complete routine troubleshooting with proposals for service improvements.


Responsibilities



  • Works with schematics, install and service manuals, CAD drawings to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair units while in the field

  • Records and communicates daily deliverables to team leads in a timely manner

  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Champions quality and safety standards with all team members and partners

  • Follows all safety guidelines

  • Operates a variety of standard hand and power tools, analog/digital test equipment, and CCTV testing devices

  • Runs wires, manages cabling, connects components, mounts devices, and maintains a high quality standard

  • Uses diagnostic equipment including multimeters and software to isolate wiring issues, network connectivity issues, equipment failures, and operational anomalies

  • Uses signal flow to trace and resolve network cable issues

  • Terminates and tests basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks

  • Installs and terminates sub-devices (patch panels, junction boxes) and head-end equipment including power and grounding

  • Generates, evaluates, and implements solutions to routine problems; provides basic system diagnostics and troubleshooting

  • Uses information technology and related applications to convey and retrieve information; enters, transcribes, records, and maintains information

  • Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds, resolving conflict appropriately and building trust with colleagues

  • Identifies, moves, and stores construction and building materials for all types of installation and service activities


Qualifications



  • Minimum of 1 year technician service experience or schooling in an applicable field

  • 12-volt electronics installs and service, OR GPS or fleet telemetry installs and service, OR fire alarm installs and service, OR access control, CCTV, or intercom systems, OR school or other transit bus mechanic systems

  • Strong mechanical, mathematical and reasoning aptitude

  • Valid and current State issued Driver's License


Work Environment



  • Ability to travel and work when school buses are not in operation; OT and occasional weekends may be required. Travel by air or driving as required based on distance. Travel required 75-100% of the time

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts including overtime, nights and weekends

  • Physical ability to stand/bend for up to 8 hours and lift up to 75 lbs

  • Position may include outdoor work (hot/cold temperatures, confined spaces, extreme weather, uneven surfaces)

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis

  • Salary range is $24.00 - $27.00 per hour plus full benefits (Health, Dental, Vision, 401K and PTO)
