Description:

East Bay Community Action Program is hiring for a full-time Medical Receptionist! The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, clients, and visitors at our healthcare center. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional atmosphere while efficiently managing front desk operations, including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and communication support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls appropriately
* Provide general information about services, procedures, and policies
* Respond to basic inquiries from patients, providers, and other departments
* Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the electronic scheduling system
* Maintain provider schedules and coordinate with clinical teams
* Document appointment details accurately in the electronic health record
* Greet and welcome all patients, clients, and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner
* Verify patient eligibility for services and collect appropriate payments and co-pays
* Ensure all patients complete necessary consent forms and acknowledgments
* Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times
* Assist with administrative projects as assigned
* Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED required
* Associate degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred
* Ability to work an assigned schedule with as needed flexibility for coverage between the hours of 7:30am - 8:00pm.
* Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service role in a healthcare setting
* Experience with electronic health records and scheduling systems
* Demonstrated competency in multi-line phone systems and general office equipment
* Medical terminology certification preferred
* Familiarity with health insurance verification processes
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
