Facility Security Officer

Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Facility Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security management, risk assessment, and compliance within a facility environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth as the individual will develop into a key security position as we acquire our Facility Clearance License. The Facility Security Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect personnel, property, and sensitive information, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Management: Oversee and manage all security operations for the facility, ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements to security protocols and procedures.
  • Incident Response: Act as the primary point of contact for security incidents, coordinating response efforts and conducting investigations as necessary.
  • Access Control: Implement and manage access control procedures, including badge issuance, visitor management, and surveillance systems.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and conduct security training programs for employees to promote awareness of security policies and procedures, including:
  • Counterintelligence and Insider Threat Training: Provide recurring training sessions to educate staff on recognizing and reporting insider threats and other security risks.
  • Pre and Post-Travel Briefings: Conduct briefings for personnel traveling to sensitive locations, outlining potential risks and security protocols.
  • Threat Briefings: Regularly update staff on current threat environments and emerging security issues relevant to the organization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant security regulations, standards, and best practices, including those related to physical security, emergency preparedness, and safety protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other stakeholders to enhance facility security measures.
  • Growth Opportunity: As the company acquires its Facility Clearance License, the Facility Security Officer will take on increased responsibilities and leadership roles in security operations and compliance.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in security management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility security management or a related field, with a proven track record of implementing security measures and protocols.
  • Familiarity with Security Clearance Systems: Experience using the National Industrial Security System (NiSS), Defense Information System for Security (DISS), and Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e?QIP) for managing personnel security and clearance processes and SIMS.
  • Briefing Experience: Proven ability to conduct pre and post-travel briefings, ensuring personnel are informed about potential threats and security measures while traveling.
  • Threat Assessment: Experience in providing threat briefings and developing training programs focused on counterintelligence and insider threats.

Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem?solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective security strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in security systems and technology, including access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Regulations: Knowledge of DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) and NISPOM (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual) is essential.
  • Security Clearance: Must possess or be eligible for security clearance.
